Trevor's head injuries.

I notice that Trevor hits his head several times a day. I know it comes with the age and just learning to walk, but yesterday was especially hard on his head. He climbed (or jumped or fell) out of his crib. He has a bruise on his eye and forehead. We need to lower the mattress again, and see if that helps. I hope that will work for a while at least, because I really need someplace I can contain him. Then later that same day he fell out of the stroller head first and got a bruise on the other side of his forehead. We were all feeding g calves and he was sitting in the stroller. I had not buckled him in, so it is my fault, but usually he is content to sit and watch us. I feel like that is the safest place for him. Well, yesterday after falling out of the stroller he discovered that there are so many things to do and eat at the barn. Maybe we'll try using that buckle next time!

Rachel's 3rd Grade Program.

Rachel's third grade program was about Utah and Cache Valley. It was great and of course Rachel sang all the songs wonderfully. Her class also had to do a square dance. At that age it is not so fun to dance with boys. I did not see any of the kids smiling and they tyred to stay as far away from their partner as possible. THe part Rachel hated the most was when the guy would say "now swing your honey". Told us several times before and after, "He's not my honey."

Anthony is a BIshop.

We went to Logan after church to be there when Anthony was set apart as a Bishop of a married student ward. That ward is very lucky, but Kyle asked today if Grandpa and Grandma will0 be in our stake anymore. Garrick said, "Not really, but we might still see them sometimes."
Anyway, Hannah and Trevor fell asleep on the way but we were not lucky enough to have them stay asleep when we got them out of the carseats. So Trevor and I were not able to stay in the room where the setting apart was taking place. Trevor discovered the Clerk's office while we were waiting. When he saw all the drawers and cupboards and papers, he was so excited. I caught him just in time and we went to a different part of the church where he almost walked into the front of the chapel where sacrament meeting was in session.

I took this picture of Rachel and Kaitlyn outside the Stake Center while we were waitin for Anthony and Cecille. The trees are in bloom now.

Hannah's first hair cut!

Marni came to our house and cut hair last night. This was Hannah's first hair cut.

Marni calls the bangs "Baby Bangs". Hannah keeps saying, "I like my baby bangs."

Doesn't she look so grown up!

Rachel's and Kaitlyn's hair cuts.

Rachel likes her hair this short most of the time, but she has a friend WHitley that always gets mad at her when she gets her hair cut. This morning Rachel told me that when Whitley starts to yell at her she's going to say, "It's my hair, and I LIKE it!" I like it too.

Kaitlyn didn't need another hair cut, but she has been wanting bangs. So Marni cut some bangs, and Kaitlyn couldn't stop looking at herself in the mirror this morning!

Kyle got a buzz!

Kyle has been begging for a buzz, so this is his summer buzz. He loves to feel his head-It feels so cool.
This morning he said he couldn't wear his wranglers and cowboy clothes because it wouldn't go with his hair. I said, "what hair?" Hopefully he gets over this quickly, because he only has two pairs of pants that are not wranglers.

Family Home Evening from Conference Talks

Do you remember President Hinkley saying in his closing remarks at conference that he hopes we will use the conference talks as text for our Family Home Evening Lessons? Well I came across some helpful info on the lds.org website. It has all the stories that were given in conference linked and what topics it goes with.
Check it out at http://www.lds.org/library/display/0,4945,7633-1-4103-1,00.html

Trevor is walking!

OK this blog is a little bit delayed. Mom said he must be my fifth child because I forgot to tell her too. Trevor started walking this past Sunday. He started out walking to his dad three or four steps. Now he starts out walking to wherever he wants to go. He usually ends up crawling the rest of the way, but every now and then he gets all the way across the room to his destination on his feet. He doesn't want help-he refuses to hold my hand, if I hold my finger out for him to grab onto, he pushes it away. As you can see-he really likes to walk!

Hannah's First Sunbeam Talk

Hannah gave her first talk in Primary today. When we got home from church last week, Hannah informed us that she was giving a talk about the "Prophets". So I tried to think of how we could make her listing the First Presidency and Twelve Apostles into a talk. So she ended up saying, "We have 15 Prophets. Them teach us what Jesus wants us to do. They are: (then she looked at their pictures and said each of their names, without my help.) I love the Prophets."

She was so serious about this talk-while I was doing Rachel's and Kaitlyn's hair this morning I could hear her out in the living room saying it to herself. Anyway, her sunbeam teacher bore her testimony in Sacrament Meeting and said that she didn't really believe that Hannah could know all the prophets-she thought I must have been helping her somehow. So when they got into class the teacher asked Hannah to tell her the prophets again, and amazingly she really did know them!

I know most of you have heard how Hannah learned these, but for those of you who haven't heard I will tell you. After I listened to Neil's CES fireside (If you missed it you can listen to it or read it at http://www.lds.org/broadcast/ces/0,7341,395,00.html Anyway he talked about "holding fast to the words of the Prophets". One thing he said really hit me "Could you tell me the names of the three members
of the First Presidency and the names of each of those who comprise the Quorum of the Twelve? These are the 15 men you and I sustain as prophets, seers, and revelators. If we were to hold up a picture of these Brethren,
would you recognize each of them? We rarely pay close attention to someone we do not recognize or know."
I knew I could tell you the names, but I knew that my children could not, because I had not taught them. I want them to listen to and follow their council, but I had not taught them their names and faces. So I made some flashcards and started teaching my tree oldest children. We would play the matching game and go through all of their names. Rachel, Kyle and Kaitlyn were starting to get them down within just a couple of days. Then we didn't do anything with them for a few days, but the flashcards were still sitting out. The other kids were at school, and I was working on the computer. Hannah came in with the flashcards and started naming off the prophets with absolute confidence. She knew more than half of them and I did not think I had been teaching her. I sat with her and helped her learn the ones she didn't already know. She soon figured out that Everyone thought she was pretty cool to have learned this great thing, and we were having her show off to everyone. And that is how Hannah came to know the names and faces of each of our 15 Prophets, Sears, and Revelators.

Kaitlyn plays Soccer

OK I have not got a picture of Kaitlyn playing soccer yet, but I just wanted to write about her anyway. She has been so excited to play soccer. The day before her first practice she kept reminding everyone that she had a really big day tomorrow because she had three things-school, dance, and soccer. She also prayed that she would have fun at soccer. Well, she has had two games now, and she scored a point in her game today! She thoroughly enjoys herself, and she is always right there in the group that is going after the ball. Those of you who have watched kindergartners play soccer know what I am talking about-but Kaitlyn actually kicks the ball quite often in stead of just staying with the group. Of course the highlight of any ballgame is the treats! That is the only reason Rachel and Kyle have said they wished they were playing soccer. (Aren't there easier ways to get a treat?)

Twin Falls Temple

We took this picture when we were going out to John and Care's house for Mom's Birthday Party last month, so they have probably done more since then. You can go to www.twinfallstemple.org to see more picture of the construction.

Easter Egg Hunt

Grandpa tried on one of the girls hats. Robbie provided the hats for everyone to decorate with ribbons and flowers.

Hannah rushed to pick up as many eggs as she could, before the big kids were let loose.

Kaitlyn found some!

Grandpa hid one egg in the pond and told the kids that one was worth a dollar. Kyle got it.
